I practiced insertion before my period and that seemed to help. I have a heavy flow and it lasts for 6-7 days so I got size 1 and 2. I used size 2 for the first 3 days and the 1 for the rest of my period. I am a first time cup user and had 0 leaks. Amazing. Had some very minor trouble getting it out but nothing dramatic ... I have a very high cervix and the cups tends to slide up towards it and suction to the cervix so it takes a bit of practice to break that suction, it works similarly to the punch down method I use to insert it
