Why Bfree
Menstrual cups are supposed to be simple, and then you read the instructions: sterilise in boiling water between every cycle. Bfree's silicone is physically antibacterial — the surface itself resists bacterial growth — so clean water and a rinse is enough. No pots. No kettles. No hunting for a private kitchen. It sounds like a small change. Gave it a fair chance. I use a size 2 Diva so got the size 3 bfree and had to completely cut off the ball and it was still so uncomfortable to wear. While the two cups look similar in height (without the ball) the base is SO WIDE it's not comfortable. It's also extremely hard to get in (two hand job) as it's so slippery. Went back to my diva cup. Was excited about the antibacterial bfree cup but it all in all a waste of money and a painful experience.

Insertion and removal gets easier over time; the rather sturdy silicone makes folding the cup a lot trickier; still working on the correct placement so it won’t move anymore. Have to adjust my decade-long cup routine in certain ways, but not having to worry about boiling it is certainly worth it. Volume comparable with other available medium-sized cups.

No pot, no kettle, no sterilising tablets — and no suction holes to scrub, which almost every other cup has.

Size 1 (15 mL) suits first-timers and lighter flows. Size 2 (20 mL) fits most people. Size 3 is our largest, for heavier flows. The Cup Quiz asks five questions and recommends one — it's the fastest way to be sure.
Almost every leak in the first cycle or two is a seal that didn't open, not a cup that's wrong. Once it's in, run a finger around the base and check it has popped open into a full circle. If it still leaks after a couple of cycles, the size is probably off — email us and we'll help you work it out.
